Abadan Mother and Child Health Association made operational
The first mother and child health association was set up in Abadan through the good offices of residents of Zulfaghari Neighborhood in Abadan and Sadat Village.
According to a report by a Web Da correspondent, this association was made operational in the presence of Sayyed Jaber Mousavi, Head of Abadan Center for Holding Congregational Prayers; heads of departments under the health deputy; Eng. Masdar, the representative of Social Affairs Office under Arvand Free Zone Organization; Managing Director of Thalassemia Society, and members of social groups who read the invitation of the said health association.
In the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Alizadeh, Vice-Dean for Social Affairs of School of Strategies, explained working with people to their benefits within the socialization of health and elaborated on the raison d’être of a neighborhood health association.
Afterwards, Ms. Zohreh Delavar, Managing Director of Mother and Child Friendly Association, the sponsor and supporter of Mother and Child Health Association, underscored the role of mothers in children’s health and future. Then four of the participants expressed their preparedness to serve as the secretaries of the association. The coordinators held an election and introduced the secretary and the vice-secretary of the association to the local people.
Later on, another neighborhood health association was established in Sadat Village.
In line with the goal of establishing neighborhood associations in outskirts and villages, the health association of Sadat Village was established with the help of the villagers, elders of the village, the village Islamic Council, the administrators of the rural districts, primary health care providers, the family patriarchs, Dr. Alireza Amouzandeh (President of Abadan University of Medical Science) accompanied by a number of board members, Islamic City Council of Abadan, and several subscribers of social networks who received the villagers’ call.
In the beginning of ceremony of operation, Mr. Alizadeh, Vice-Dean for Social Affairs of the school of strategies, appreciated the commitment of the villages and the mosque board of trustees who allocated a part of the mosque for the establishment of the health association. He also expounded on the socialization of health and engaging the villagers with their health issues within the health association; he also described the working mechanism of these associations.
Afterwards, the administrator and the social activist of the village presented a summary of demographic characteristics of the village to the villagers and guests.
Then Dr. Amouzandeh held the floor and appreciated the enthusiastic reception of the elders and villagers. After that, 10 villagers were nominated to serve as the secretaries of the association, and through voting, and counting the votes, the deputy of social affairs carried out and supervised the election and introduction of the secretary and vice-secretary of the association.
